BudgetPlanner Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data BudgetPlanner collects, why we collect it, how we use and retain it, which third-party services process it, and what privacy rights you have. It also covers cookies, payments, AI-generated budgets, international transfers, the GDPR and the CCPA.

1. Who is BudgetPlanner?

BudgetPlanner ("we", "us", "our") operates getbudgetplanner.co. This policy explains what personal data we collect and how we use it. Contact: privacy@getbudgetplanner.co.

2. What data do we collect?

• Budget inputs you enter in the planner (income, expenses, goals). We store these inputs only if you create an account.
• Account data (email, hashed password, or OAuth identifier from Google) is collected when you sign up.
• Payment data is processed by Stripe if you upgrade to Pro. We never see your card details.
• Usage data such as pages visited, device type, approximate location (from IP), and referrer, collected via cookies and analytics.

3. How do we use your data?

• We use your data to provide, maintain and improve the service.
• We generate personalised budgets via AI. Inputs are sent to our AI providers under strict data-processing terms.
• We send transactional emails (receipts and password resets).
• We measure aggregated site performance and prevent abuse.

4. What is our legal basis under the GDPR?

We process data under: (a) contract, to deliver the service you requested; (b) consent, for non-essential cookies and marketing; (c) legitimate interests, for security and product analytics; (d) legal obligation, for tax records.

5. How do we use cookies and third-party services?

We use cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy. Third-party processors include:

• Google — sign-in, Search Console and Analytics (aggregated).
• Bing — Webmaster Tools (aggregated).
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Supabase / Cloudflare — hosting and database.

If we display ads via Google AdSense or Microsoft Advertising in the future, those partners may set cookies to serve personalised ads. You will be asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set, in line with Google's EU user consent policy and Microsoft's advertising policies.

6. How long do we retain your data?

Account data is kept until you delete your account. Budget entries are deleted when you delete them or your account. Anonymous analytics is kept for up to 26 months.

7. What are your privacy rights?

You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from your account page or by emailing privacy@getbudgetplanner.co. EU/UK residents may lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the rights to know, delete and opt out of the "sale" of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

8. Do we collect data from children?

BudgetPlanner is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Do we transfer data internationally?

Data may be processed in the EU and the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. How will we notify you of changes?

We will post updates on this page and change the "Last updated" date.
